ADC Businesses

Since 2012, through engagement with the Joza community, a total of 16 viable and active businesses have been set up.  Over this time, a lot of effort has gone into supporting the business owners in the development of business plans, accessing support for their internal governance processes and assisting with securing outlets for their products and services.  To be an ADC affiliated business, there needs to be a commitment amongst the business owners to participate in monthly business support meetings, offer mentorship to new fledgling businesses, and to assist the ADC promote its services within the small business community of Joza. Some of the  businesses are featured below:

DZ Laundry

The first and only township laundry service in Joza and which is owned by Dambiza Zenani.  The laundry has attracted support from the SAB Foundation through Rhodes University by the supply of 2 new Speed Queen washing machines and a tumble drier.

ENHANCED ALOES

The brain-child of Andiswa Stofu. Inspired by aloes of the Eastern Cape, she produces organic soap from Aloe ferox extracts, which have been tested by Rhodes University's Pharmacy Department for their authentic ingredients.

ESAM Media and Photography

Run under the artistic eye of Gcobisa Maholwana, she is contracted by a number of local entities to take photographs of the highest quality and provides a valuable, quality service to her customers.

Linomtha Community Gardens

Run by a co-operative from the Joza community under the leadership of Dumbisa Zenani and Mr Mali.  The focus is on providing high quality organic vegetables to the Joza community and they have recently been granted 4ha of landby the Makana Municipality for their enterprise.

Private Eye Community Watch

A community serving entity overseen by Ndumiso Nkonki.  Services range from community security to substance abuse information workshops in local schools.

Sibanye Special Day Care Centre

The pride and joy of Nomalungisa Maloni and Veliswa Mdaka who currently run their special needs centre from the Ntlebi Primary School in Joza. The service they provide to parents is of the highest quality.

ZAWATI CRAFTS

Owned by Nombeko Mbane, this business is making huge strides in making quality shweshwe bags and craft items.  With a team of sewing women, Nombeko is providing items for conferences and the local craft market in the Makana region.
